At the beginning of the whole ‘wedding planning journey’, I had this vision of my wedding – natural colours, nude tones, creams, beige and ivory. I wasn’t too keen on colour – and I wanted everything to feel very understated, light and airy.
And then I started looking for bridesmaid dresses and flowers – and decided colour might not be such a bad thing after all. I didn’t want to feel restricted to one colour though (plus, it’s so difficult to get everything to match if you do things that way) – so I chose a palette of colours instead.
I’ve opted for a variety of colour, a kind of minty aqua pastel green / blue (longest colour description ever!?), a baby pastel pink, and gold. Because every wedding needs some sparkle right?
I haven’t really organised these colours, I’ve just tried to share them out around the details. Blue and pink are the main colours, with little splashes of gold here and there.
The bridesmaids will be wearing the blue colour, but their flowers will be pink and ivory, and their shoes will be ivory too. It’s a colour combo I LOVE, and it suits all their complexions so well.
Centre-pieces on our tables will be mainly pink, with a few gold and blue details. I’ve been looking at gold chevron table runners… and I’m a bit head of heels for them. The downside of sparkle though, is that they’re looking a bit expensive – so we’ll see how much budget there is to play with later on in the year.
I’m also sneaking the colour scheme into some of the little details, such as napkins, straws and balloons. Between you and me, the little details have been the most fun to organise and plan, because they’re so cheap!
If you see any gorgeous wedding details that fit my colour scheme – send me a tweet! Any excuse for more wedding research 😉
