Looking for beautiful plus size bridesmaid dresses? Read my list of retailers below…
As a size 16-18, the idea of having to wear something someone else has picked out (someone who might not share my body type or insecurities) – is actually pretty frightening. Choosing any dress is hard, choosing a plus size bridesmaid dresses, if you don’t know where to look, can be even harder.
Being a plus size bridesmaid is hard! It’s unlikely the other bridesmaids are plus-sized, so the bride might not necessarily be looking for ‘plus size bridesmaid dresses’. She’s probably just looking for any dress – and that means you end up worrying like hell, about being forced to wear some awful dress that doesn’t flatter your shape or doesn’t fit your bust.
If you have a plus sized bridesmaid in your wedding party (which I’m guessing you do if you’re reading this post) just spare them a thought, and try to be understanding. We don’t just want to be stuck in some boring, safe-looking dress, just because it ‘is available in our size’. We want to look great too, and we want to feel comfortable and confident on the wedding day, just like you do.
There are so many incredible retailers now for plus size bridesmaid dresses, and most of them are really affordable (good news all round) and stock beautiful styles too. I’d urge any bride looking for a plus size bridesmaid dresses, to take a look at these brands first, before settling for some ‘average’ looking plus size option from your normal boutiques. Your friend will definitely thank you for it!
Chi Chi Curve
One of my favourite plus size brands for formal wear – Chi Chi Curve have some stunning plus size bridesmaid dresses, and none of them go over £100 in price. Most dresses come in a few colour options, and they have lovely flattering shapes and silhouettes (almost vintage inspired) which will flatter any plus size ladies. The sizes run up to a size 24 (in UK sizes).
ASOS Curve
ASOS Curve have really stepped up their wedding-attire game recently, releasing some beautiful options for plus size bridesmaid dresses. The fab thing about these is that they’re probably available in smaller sizes too – so great if you want all your ladies (no matter what size) to match. Price vary, but most dresses are under £65.
David’s Bridal
We finally have our own David’s Bridal in London now (yay!) which means you can go and see the dresses in person… but can also order these online from their US online store (if you don’t mind the little customs charge once shipped). The prices are great, and each dress comes in so many colour options, you’re literally spoilt for choice. Their plus size bridesmaid dresses here between £50 and £200, so some are a little pricer than other – but all are gorgeous quality and customisable to a certain extent.
Navabi
A little bit more expensive than other brands on this list – but the quality of Navabi dresses is unquestioned. If you’re after plus size bridesmaid dresses that are a little less stereotypical or traditional – then you might find something well suited here. They would be a great option for any older bridesmaids (like 35+) who don’t fancy the prom-style dresses.
Lindy Bop
Lindy Bop are probably one of the most affordable brands on this list, with most of their dresses costing around £35 – £45. The quality is good, and the styles are super flattering. Another feature of many of their dresses is the unique stretchy material they use for a lot of their designs (which are certainly curve friendly!). Most dresses range from a size 6 – 26 too – so perfect if you have bridesmaids in all shapes and sizes.
Pin Up Girl Clothing
One of my all time favourite brands, a lot of their beautiful dresses come up to a size 4X. There are some gorgeous ones that would be perfect for a plus size bridesmaid dress, and they come in beautiful vintage-inspired cuts which are majorly flattering too. Most dresses are priced around the $120 mark, and they’re so well made, it’s worth every penny.
