Here’s my Christmas movie playlist for the rest of December… Oh and one epic TV special at the end.
Bridget Jones
Some of this film is set at Christmas, there are Christmas jumpers in the plot line, and they kiss in the snow at the end (spoiler alert). Might not be an obvious choice, but I love this movie. This is my favourite “I totally forget this was a Christmas movie” movie.
Jingle All The Way
This one probably doesn’t make the list of classics or emotional Christmas movies – but I just love it. What’s not to love? Arnie running around a parade trying to find a toy action figure for his adorable kid.
Any Harry Potter film
Because the Harry Potter movies are nearly all set over an academic school year, there’s always some kind of Christmassy scene / sequence in them. The earlier ones always feel a bit more festive for me.
Love Actually
Obviously. Do I really need to explain this one?
Arthur Christmas
I think because this movie isn’t Disney, it doesn’t get as much kudos as it deserves. It’s a relatively new animated movie (last 5 years I think) and it’s SOOO GOOD. It’s just so cute, but also witty and just the right amount of weird. Also Hugh Laurie voices one of the main characters, so what’s not to love!?
Family Stone
Random girly film set at Christmas which is actually really sweet and funny. It’s about a girl who visits her boyfriend’s family at Christmas and just totally does’t fit in.
Die Hard
Yippie-Ki-Yay, Motherfucker. Not the most obvious choice, but don’t let anyone argue this isn’t a Christmas film. It is and it’s awesome.
Home Alone
I honestly don’t feel Christmassy until we’ve watched one of the Home Alone movies. I love them both, but the NYC one does get extra love because New York at Christmas is just magic.
Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special
I’ve already watched this about 5 times this month.
Oh. Oh. Oh. Merry Christmas.
