Modcloth is one of my favourite online retailers, they have a variety of sizes, and they styles are always a little different and unique. When the scroll through the clothes online it feels like someone has really curated and handpicked each piece.
I’ve lived in the clothes from my spring / summer Modcloth picks – but as winter is creeping up on us, I wanted to get a few more items that were a little more suited to the season!
Here’s what I chose…
This is a winter dress in every meaning of the word. The pattern is christmassy, the colours are festive – and the material is snuggly and warm. I originally thought this would be itchy and that I’d need to wear something under it – but it is actually so so soft. It’s not itchy at all, and feels like a one of those super soft teddy bears you always find in high-end toy shops. It sizes well, it has plenty of stretch and lots of room (if you did want layers underneath). You could probably size down actually, if you wanted more of a body-con fit.
I’ll probably wear this around the house a lot – it’s so soft and so cosy, that it’s the perfect jumper dress to relax in. Saying that though, as you can see below, it also looks great with boots and tights – for the pub, or dinner out.
I LOVE yellow and brown tones for autumn, so I couldn’t resist choosing this dress. The top is a very soft jersey (and very stretchy) and the bottom is a slightly thicker jersey. I wasn’t pleasantly surprised by how comfy this was, the waist is elasticated (and then has a jersey tie, if you want it to be closer or looser fitting) so it was pretty easy to get the look I wanted with it. It’s a great length too, it fell just under my knee – which is perfect for blustery autumn days (and saving any embarrassment!). I chose to wear it with a little tank top underneath (you see it just poking up by the bust line) – this was because the yellow jersey was quite see-through without anything there. That’d probably be my only criticism, but honestly, I would’ve put a tank-top underneath anyway, as I like to layer up in the cold.
I actually bought this dress in white and pink for summertime and LOVED it. I wore it at least once a week over the summer months. The colours of white and pink didn’t really feel suitable for autumn / winter though, so as soon as I spotted the same dress in the black and greys – I knew I had to have it. It works so well and it’s so pretty! It fits well, it’s super flattering and it’s just the right length for me. It’s not a ‘sexy’ dress, it’s a pretty, dainty, floral dress – and I just adore it. It’s looks great with heels for evening drinks (or a christmas party) but also looks just as cute with boots or flats.
