One of the reasons I LOVE spring and summer so much, is the dresses. I love dresses. And pretty heels. And bare legs. And a summer tan. It makes me so happy to put on a pretty dress, and to feel pretty in it.
One of my favourite brands for finding a huge variety of dress styles, is Modcloth. I could (and have) spent hours browsing their dresses. I find them a little more unique than other online retailers like ASOS, and I love unique and beautiful styles.
Another reason I love Modcloth (and really admire their brand), is because their styles don’t stop at a size 14. A lot of their styles go up to a 4X (size 24-26) which I think is great. I love brands that are all-inclusive with sizes, I mean – all women, no matter what size, deserve to look and feel gorgeous in their clothes, right?
Below you’ll find some of my favourite picks from Modcloth this season and details on the fit and material too.
You Swish! Dress: $129.99
I loved the nautical feel of this dress, and I’m really loving blue tones for summer time. This came up a little smaller than I was expecting (the bust wasn’t stretchy – which I thought it was when ordering). Despite that though, the fit is great and the top is actually very supportive, which made me love it even more (yay no bra needed!). The skirt is like the most beautiful skirt ever – and so swishy and light and floaty. You’ll be doing twirls in your bedroom! The length was midi length (3/4 inches below the knee) on me.
This is what I was doing in front of the mirror when trying it on…
I Rest My Grace Dress in Roses: $64.99
This dress is ideal for weddings or summer garden parties, and has that beautiful floaty feel to it. The material is light and airy and gorgeously delicate. Unlike some others in this list, the material doesn’t offer any stretch – but it does come up slightly large, and fits beautifully. This is the kind of dress you could pair with pumps for a casual daytime look, or heels and a clutch bag for any dress-up occasion. The length was just below knee length, on me at 5 ft 3. I’ll be wearing this to a friend’s wedding in September, as it’s the perfect ‘wedding guest’ dress.
Chirp the Light Fantastic Dress: $89.99
I fell head over heels for this dress, especially the gorgeous pattern. I love the little birds on it, and the fit is just perfect too. It’s very flattering on the waist line, and gives a lovely vintage-style silhouette, as the skirt is quite full. The material is slightly stretchy (yay!) – so you could probably size down. The length was 3 inches below the knee on me at 5 ft 3.
Too Much Fun Dress in Painted Posies – Long: $109.99
This is the ultimate in girly-flirty spring style. I don’t usually go for high-necklines, but the nipped in waist balanced the high neckline and still gave me a lovely shape. This is ideal for day-to-day wear, as the florals and dress shape are fun and casual. The dress is also really comfortable, which make it ideal for everyday wear. No stretch in this one, and the length 2/3 inches under the knee.
Flower Show Stopper Dress: $89.99
Another gorgeous floral choice, with plenty of stretch and shape – this is a must-have. I love these simple floral tea-dresses, and this will be perfect for the honeymoon later in the year. The dress is super flattering (it’s that lovely stiff but stretchy material, that skims and hugs in all the right places). The waist tie belt is also really pretty, and tucks your waist in, in just the right place. I actually like that the belt starts a little off centre too – meaning you get the floral pattern all the way down still.
Dresses c/o Modcloth – but all thoughts and opinions remain my own. Of course!
