Some couples like the quiet, some like the beach, while others would be satisfied with a simple sightseeing cruise around an ancient city, slowly taking in the sceneries. If there were ever a place to offer all of these in one package, it would have to be Sicily.
This is a haven where couples come to find themselves. With its numerous destinations, all of which have something different to offer, Sicily is always unfolding another adventure around the corner. The island is simply one of the most unique romantic settings Europe has to offer, and if you are looking for an unusual, getaway destination to spend some quality time with your partner, you should consider exploring this island – and touring the bounds of Sicily.
Like in most other European places, there are Air B’n’B apartments, luxury hotels, cheap hostels…etc. If, however, you would like to (and have the option to!) make this holiday truly special, look into wishsicily.com and their villa rental offers throughout the island of Sicily. A villa rental always feels a little more luxurious, as you have a private pool to yourself (in most cases!).
You think you know Sicily until you visit Palermo. This is the part of Italy where romance comes to breed. This city can make something as simple as a crossroad take your breath away. In Palermo, sites like the Quattro Canti and the Catacombs of the Capuchins will give you and your partner a memorable getaway. Before you leave though, make absolutely sure that you’ve tasted the street food – from the “Caponata” (sardines served with apricots) to the “Focaccia Maritata”.
If you are into the natural scenery, be sure to tour along the northern costs where you will have a more than perfect view of the coast, the mountains and the entire stretch of the island. The view gets even more beautiful when you reach Taormina – the town on the east coast famous for its beaches and the grand Greco Roman Theater.

This is an old town to the south of the island famous for its ancient monuments built by the Greek and Roman Empires and collected in what has now become a major attraction centre – the Neapolis Archaeological Park. One could (and quite often does) say that this is where the history of Sicily lies.
Other Beautiful Places in Sicily
There are many more extremely interesting destinations to visit throughout Sicily. Trapani, for instance, would be very appealing to any modern scenery enthusiast, while places like Mazara Del Vallo offer a unique countryside and sandy coast experience. On this island, even the simple acts of tasting delicious, creamy chocolate of baroque Modica or witnessing the architecture of Corso Umberto have the power to make you feel like a true explorer. There really is no limit or “recommended” amount of time for one to spend on Sicily, it is rather a matter of personal preferences. If, however, you’d like to experience the island in the “local” way, all you have to do is make sure your Sicily holiday is as relaxed and stress-free as possible!
